The concept is simple. Piet and Frans provide the facility for any fancier to offer for auction young birds or older pigeons. The sellers pay a small percentage for the service  and provide the details which Piet and Frans then publish for them. Essentially you are dealing with the fanciers themselves, as these are their sales   and not simply a collection of birds being “knocked out” by a dealer.

The auction system is completely computerised and the times and bids are clearly visible to all. You will probably find that there are some very adept bidders who manage to slip in at the very last second so don't be too surprised if this happens. Its probably wise to follow through a couple of sales to get the feel of things first.  Don't get carried away with bidding either, set your limits and keep to them.

In most sales you will find photographs and full pedigrees of each individual bird which means you can get a very good idea of what you are bidding on. No it is  not the same thing as having them in your hand but then you are not in Holland. I have bought several pigeons through
TopPigeons over the past couple of years and I have been very satisfied with the system which has worked without problem or difficulty. Both Piet and Frans are good English speakers and can assist if you really do get stuck.

You can of course look at all the sales and all the pigeons as well as following the bidding without Registering but if you want to make a bid you must Register, so it is wise to get this done early.

There is a short Video Guide at the bottom of this page as well as the following outline.

When you first go to the site you can Register on the English pages. You can change languages to Dutch, English and German by clicking on the national flags in the top right corner. To go to the Registration Page Click on Register to the lower left of the screen.
TopPigeons is the Internet Auction site run by Piet de Vogel and Frans van Peperstraten,
two of Holland's top International Flyers.
Enter all the Registration details required and then click on Sign Up. You will then receive an E-mail which you must confirm in order to proceed. Once this is done you can make bids.

Each time you return to the site and want to bid you must Log In in the top section of the Registration page with your Username and Password and then click Login.

While some auctions are on the English pages most are on the Dutch, to go to them Click on the Dutch flag in the Top Right corner and then when the Dutch page appears Click on Veilingen on the left margin.

When the auction pages appear you will see the individual fanciers sales listed down the centre of the page. If you scroll down these you will then come to the word  Bonnenverkoop and beneath this further sales. These are charity or Club sales where generally fanciers have donated pigeons. Some of these will be purely Internet sales but most will start on the Internet and then be completed at a Club meeting or event.

In the right hand column you will see sales for some particular named fanciers.

To go to a sale click on the name or heading. When you arrive at the sale page you can normally find all the pigeons listed by scrolling down the page. Sometimes, if there is more than one page, you will find the pigeons listed on the page headed
Duivenoverzicht.

By clicking on a pigeon you will be taken to a page giving you some details of that bird often with a photograph. Most often there will also be a page headed Stamboom, meaning pedigree, by clicking on this heading you will be taken to the pedigree page. If you click on that page once and wait till it changes and then click on it again you should be taken to a larger format which you can scroll up and down and scrutinise in detail.
To make a bid Click on the heading  Bod uitbrengen and you will be taken to the bidding page where you will see full details of when the sale finishes and the minimum bid you can make.

Bidding is simple. You have two methods of making bids.

The first is for those who either just want to make a single bid or to make individual bids as the price rises. Simply enter your bid amount (Euros) in the box and click on the
Bod uitbrengen box, lower to the right, to confirm.

The second method is automated bidding. First you need to click in the small box to the left. You are invited to enter the amount by which you want your bids  to increase, the incremental amount, and also the highest figure that you are prepared to bid.
Then click on the Bod uitbrengen box to confirm. Then as other people make bids your bids will be entered automatically at the amount you have set up to the highest level you have set. This is especially useful if you are not going to be available when the auction comes to an end.
Don't forget that the auctions end strictly on time, and by Dutch time, which is ONE hour AHEAD of British. Once the auction has ended the winning bids will be displayed. If you have been successful you will receive an E-mail requesting payment and delivery/collection details. Good luck with your bidding.
